The Characteristics tab allows you to define the characteristics for
the USB License Key.
Enable the USB License Key as a standard dongle, which is ready-to-use and no setup needed. The user can move the
USB dongle between machines without restriction.
Enable the USB License Key as a node-locked dongle, which must be
initialized and tied to a specific machine before use. The initialization saves
the machine hardware signatures to the Key on the USB dongle, which will be
verified when the protected application detects the Key. Besides, it decrements
the initialization credit by one. When running the protected application for
the first time, it will automatically setup the USB dongle. Optionally, the
user may also use the provided Init
Key utility to initialize the USB dongle.
To move the USB dongle between machines, the user must uninitialize the USB dongle from the current machine first
by using the Init Key utility. Uninitialization also
returns an initialization credit back to the USB dongle.
·
Max-Init. Specify the maximum number of initializations
allowed. The user may initialize to overwrite the invalid initialized USB
dongle only up to the limit allowed. Enable the Unlimited checkbox to
allow unlimited initializations.
·
Initialized Machine Signatures. Enable the machine hardware signatures you want to
initialize to the USB dongle. The CPU/BIOS signature is enabled by default. In
addition, you can enable the Ethernet adapter signature.
Enable the USB License Key as a connect-less dongle, which allows the
user to install the Key on to a hard drive as Machine License for convenience
as well as saving a USB slot. However, the user will be asked to connect the
USB dongle regularly within a specified interval (e.g. 30 days) since the last
time it was connected to the machine. The user can use the provided Install Key
utility to install the Key from the USB dongle on to a hard drive, as well as
remove the Key back to the USB dongle.
·
Max-Install. Specify the maximum number of installations allowed. Enable the
Unlimited checkbox to allow unlimited installations.
·
Interval. Specify the time interval that the USB dongle must be connected to the
machine.
·
Key Installation and Removal. Enable the options to allow installation on multiple
machines, and allow removal from hard drive.
·
Machine License Signature Extensions. Key installation on to a
hard drive as Machine License by default enables the HDD signature. For a
higher level of security, you can enable additional machine specific signature
extensions from CPU/BIOS and Ethernet adapter.
·
Module Upgrade Installation. Enable the option to allow module upgrade
installation. Specifically, it allows Key installation from another USB dongle
for upgrade to add the licensed Module IDs to the previously installed Machine
License.
